cai guo-qiang {at the guggenheim}
The Cai Guo-Qiang solo exhibit, I Want To Believe, at the Guggenheim is dynamic and worth checking out. It's a show that works in the spiral circulation space (not always the case) and the main atrium has transformed with the help of a HUGE installation of suspended cars with fireworks-emanating lights. The artist works with unusual mediums such as gunpowder/explosives - and gives us an opening to the world of contemporary Chinese art, that has been getting so much attention lately. Cai is also taking on visual and special effects for this summer's Beijing Olympics...I'll be looking forward to what this pyro has in store for us.Labels: movies + music + culture, new york city
