la traviata {met opera}

This winter/spring, I got season tickets for the Met Opera for the classics, such as Turandot, Carmen, Le Nozze di Figaro, Hansel and Gretel...and this last one, La Traviata. The story - that literally translates to "The Fallen One" - is of a courtesan who is genuinely + passionately loved by a man and falls in love, herself, both for the first time. But it is an opera...there is always tragedy and drama in the classics and this one is no different. Parallel with the storyline drama, the Met dressed up the stage, the set, and the characters in the most gorgeous and elaborate way. The top right photo is of the Spanish Gala scene at Flora's apartment in Paris.
The Met is the art of music, drama, costumes, and set design ALL coming together as one. I "wouldn't mind" having an consulting gig at the Met and just soak in their large-scale art direction juices. Someday...
