poptimistic

The recent "this and that" of the movie, Speed Racer, by the Wachowski Brothers, has brought to attention this new-ish word - POPTIMISTIC. Being of fan of random new vocabulary, I was intrigued by the positive sound and look of this word. As a cultural trend, "poptimistic" is super-saturated richness, hyper-realism, brightly lit in even the furthest corners, up tempo, and generally positive. With the trend of candy colors in fashion, the push of HD color on our TV screens, and the need for constant stimulation, I guess there is a need for this sense of aesthetics these days. Anyways, John Gaeta, Visual Effects pro, talks about how Speed Racer is poptimistic. Despite the not so keen reviews of this movie, perhaps I need to check it out?
