la boheme {met opera}

This weekend I saw the classic story of La Boheme on the Met Opera stage. With a young cast, the sad love story was performed to a fully packed house. The set design for the entire production was so detailed and lavish, but it was most apparent in the above Act II that takes place on Christmas Eve in the Latin Quarter of Paris. With hundreds of extras {who are the chorus} and a set that opens up so that we are part of the street crowd and get brought into the inside of a cafe, the realism was quite impressive. It was indeed a bravo performance for the cast and crew~
On a sidenote, when I arrived at Lincoln Center at 7:45, there were crowds of people coming into the main entrance and people split to the left to see the New York City Ballet, the right to see the New York Philharmonic and to the center to the Metropolitan Opera. There was no snow or cold weather that was stopping the NYC audience from seeing their winter arts and cultural events - and I loved that!
