snowy nyc

NYC has been getting a lot of snow this winter. Not unbearable quantities, but definitely quite a number of snowy days compared to other winters. NYC is NOT a city that takes snow well. It gets all slushy and gray and dirty in no time. But last night, we got fresh snowfall and I was in the cozy streets of the West Village {having a nice dinner at the Waverly Inn}...and it was so pretty. The iron railings of the brownstones were delicately dusted over with snow...leftover xmas lights peeked from beneath the cold snow...benches were perfectly overlaid with untouched snow...and everything was really still and quiet. Not sure if the above photos do justice, but there is something so peaceful about walking in the quiet streets of NYC covered in a blanket of white snow. It didn't last too long {all the streets were pretty bare or icy by this morning} but last night I felt as though I got to soak in the beauty of urban winter-ness.
