spring sakura marks
So, today is the first official day of spring {really? because it's snowing here in NYC!?!}...In Japan, the symbol and sign of the emerging spring is sakura/cherry blossoms. I was fortunate to be in Tokyo and Kyoto for last year's season, but such is not the case this year. Thus, finding these amazing glasses seemed like a perfect fit to celebrate sakura from oversees. Designer Hironao Tsuboi's Sakura-saku {Sakura blooms} glass celebrates the wonderful shape of the cherry blossom to last even after the blossoms have fallen. Although with a quick glance, these glasses look like any other tall glass, here is his subtle point of design: inspired by coffee rings and the physics of condensation, the bottom of the glass leaves behind the outline of sakura...how sweet.
