the good negro {public theater}
Right now the Public Theater is running The Good Negro that I got to see over the weekend. As a successful production from Public LAB {the Public Theater's way to share new plays out there}, this is a story of people fighting during the American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960's. The story not only shows the heroic side of some characters trying to make a difference, but it also shows their human side of personal regrets and mistakes. Although the set design is simple and minimalist, the well thought-out stage direction with characters weaving in and out of scenes makes the play a really dynamic and interesting production. High recommendations for this theater piece - which has a huge plus of being performed in a relatively smaller, intimate space. {The Good Negro is showing until 4/19}Labels: movies + music + culture, new york city
