min kyung kim {mountain series}
Roth Gallery in the UES is featuring Korean artist Min Kyung Kim - and I got to attend her opening. The collection Mountain Series uses traditional methods of painting on rice paper - but in a modern way. Kim uses a saudering iron to burn rice paper to make a color from below show through. The result is numerous large format pieces that are made of layered rice paper sheets. She has a beautiful sense of color and had a vibrant show filling up the gallery walls. The collection is not huge, but apparently all done in the last year. So check it out if you have a chance~Have a great weekend all! Looks like sun~
